This is the rare demo take of Hey Jude recorded at Abbey Road on July 29, 1968--4 days before the final take was commenced on August 2, 1968 at EMI & Trident (McCartney noted that they needed more studio room for the full orchestra and chorus that accompanies the famous final take--London's Trident studios fit the bill) *Notes on studio chatter : John's comment "from the heart of the Black Country" was a wry reference to "Old Smoke Stack"-an industrial region in the middle of England.
